(Otherwise known as "My Trainer's Mean, Mean Met-Con")
- Row 500M, for time
- For every second over 1:00, do one 55# thruster
This sucked HARD. My first 500M was 2:01. And as soon as I got done, the guy on the treadmill next to me leaned over and said, "You know, there's a much better way to do that..." So I told him I'd be back as soon as I did my 61 thrusters.
Fuck me.
No, fuck MY TRAINER.
I went back and he gave me (a) a basic rowing tutorial, including a breakdown of the three parts of the move - the catch, the drive and the finish, (b) drills I can do to practice each piece of the movement and (c) general encouragement that I will, in fact, get better if I practice. He knew what he was talking about - watching someone explain it in person and watching a video are two totally different things. And he was effortlessly pulling mad power from that thing. I think I'm in love.
Rowed another 1500M, practicing all the stuff he gave me.
