Second, I forgot to add that I picked up a sweet 55# kettlebell this weekend! Jeff Martone said he had one left over from the Beverly cert last weekend, asked if I knew anyone in the market. Um, yes. ME. If I'm going to be training guys, I'm going to need some bigger KBs.
Now, the fact that Martone was selling KBs out of the back of his car was, well, downright sketchy. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was hot. Not to mention that it it was stamped "Dragon Dorr" on the side. AND he said he'd throw in a free Rolex...
Okay, I'm totally kidding - of course it was legit. It's a York kettlebell - didn't even know York MADE KBs, did you? It's really well constructed, nice handle, and a wide, solid bottom with none of that rubber base crap. (And it's in pounds, not kilos, so it's a few pounds heavier than a true 1.5 pood.) I'm excited to swing it, and more excited to start coaching with it.
Finally, one of my favorite CrossFit people, Keith Wittenstein of CrossFit Virtuosity (NYC) totally saved my hands this weekend. After Friday's kipping practice and bar work, I was already starting to rip. Saturday morning, Keith gave me the best tape job I've ever had. (Which sounds dirty, but it's not.) It held all day, it didn't pinch or wrinkle and best of all, it WORKED. My hands were in fantastic shape at the end of the day. Check the step-by-step hand taping tutorial on the CF Virtuosity blog.
That's me and Keith below. And I'm not sure why we're standing like a couple of superheroes.

Great concept. You should make DLing Scott a goal for 2009. Time to load up that sandbag, Melissa.
Sweet. Thanks for the taping instructions. I need 'em!
